Anyone who knows anything about the history of research in chronic lymphocytic leukemia) CLL has heard the name of Dr. Kanti Rai. His contributions to helping us patients extend well beyond the important and still useful RAI staging of CLL he developed in 1975.
From iwCLL 2015 in Sydney Australia, Dr. Rai speaks about what is different about CLL management at the end of 2015 compared to the past 40 plus years.
Take Away Points:
- More effective and better tolerated non-chemo approaches are becoming more widely available, including in frontline use.
- Treatments are now available for those who have failed many other therapies.
- Clinical trials are offering better options and improving treatments.
- A cure for CLL is likely in the near future with combination therapies.
Dr. Rai is not one to over promise, so please enjoy his upbeat and optimistic interview.
