Derek Caine, CLL patient and Advocate, on the Importance of CLL Caregivers

This content was current as of the date it was released. In science and medicine, information is constantly changing and may become out-of-date as new data emerge.

“Little Derek” is a CLL patient and musician from Nova Scotia that I have had the privilege to meet at CLLPAG meetings in Niagara Falls, Canada.

And Derek is also a tireless worker for the CLL community.

This time he is reminding us of the unrecognized work of our caregivers.

In his own words:

Here is my latest activity as I say: Thank You to all our family caregivers.

Just time in my mind to do this.

This concert is just so special and meaningful to so many out there. I had to find a way to say Thank You to my wife June as well as the thousands of other mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, brothers sisters in fact all family members who care for the sick and very rarely get the recognition they so deserve. Please support the evening a group from work would be incredible. It will be an evening of song, dance fellowship and love. I can’t make this happen without you all so let’s do it!!

So please take 60 seconds and have a look at this video, it says it all!!
