- CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) and SLL (small lymphocytic lymphoma) are cancers of the identical B cells. SLL is in the nodes and has fewer than 5,000 clonal cancers cells per microliter of blood. CLL is in the blood and often in the nodes too.
- The number of new cases of CLL is climbing slowly but the numbers of death from CLL is slowly declining.
- The average age at diagnosis is 71 years old.
- The average age at death is 80.
