Ask The Doctor Q4 2020: CAR-T Edition
Question:
My husband has inactive CLL however suffered 6 months ago with a pneumonia. Other than this he is a healthy 72 year old. With the Covid-19 happening now do you recommend he have a flu/pneumonia shot? He has not had one yet.
Answer:
Your husband should get the shots. Be sure to follow the CDC guidelines for immune suppressed patients on the timing of the two different pneumonia vaccines and also ask about the high dose flu shot. Use all the COVID-19 precautions when visiting the doctor’s office and see what you can do to minimize his social contacts at the clinic.
