Question
I have CLL and have been in wait and see and watch. I am also a retired health professional that keeps hearing the need for medical personnel to come and help with the covid 19 virus. Would it be best if I just stay home or should I go and help?
Answer
Please take a look at our official statement on this: https://cllsociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/CLL-Society’s-Statement-Concerning-CLL-Patients-Working-and-Traveling-During-the-COVID-19-Pandemic.pdf where we say: Specifically, CLL patients who are doctors, nurses and others healthcare providers should not be providing direct patient care where they might come in contact with infected patients. My CLL doctor prohibits all his CLL patients from direct patient care. Not everyone agrees, so we advise that you review your decision with your local treatment team.
