CLL Society’s own Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brian Koffman, returns to the radio to beat the drum about those with chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL / SLL) and others who are immunocompromised (IC) remain at increased risk for severe outcomes with COVID-19.
Vaccination can’t always be counted on to provide robust protection for the IC community. However, the good news is that pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and other options beyond vaccines are becoming available to protect this vulnerable population from potential COVID-19 exposure.
In this radio interview, Dr. Koffman advocates on a broad stage for the importance of providing the CLL and entire IC community with the therapies they need to gain robust protection. CLL Society is working hard to make sure everyone, immunocompromised or not, understands the challenges the IC community faces regarding COVID-19. Also, the importance of ensuring equitable access to therapies that can offer protection so this community can feel safe as the world begins to open again.
