Are you getting any data of the efficacy of the Pfizer booster for CLL patients? How do we know if it works? Is there a test?

This content was current as of the date it was released. In science and medicine, information is constantly changing and may become out-of-date as new data emerge.

Ask the RN Question:

Are you getting any data of the efficacy of the Pfizer booster for CLL patients? How do we know if it works? Is there a test?

Answer: Anecdotally, we are hearing from many CLL patients who had previously had either a poor response or no response at all to the previous vaccine doses who are responding very robustly to the third COVID-19 booster dose!

You should ask your CLL Specialist to order a quantitative COVID-19 Spike Protein antibody test four weeks after you received your booster. If you do not have a healthcare provider who is willing to perform the antibody test, you can request it be performed through LabCorp (you just have to have an account and you can order it through their portal). You can find more information on that here: https://www.labcorp.com/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/individuals/antibody-test

In the meantime, please continue to take strict precautions and make sure you have completed all of the checklists within the COVID-19 action plan.
