Expert Access™
Expert Access™
There is well-documented evidence that having a CLL expert on your team improves your life expectancy. CLL Society’s innovative program offers a free consultation to patients, providing them with an expert opinion to share with their local treatment team. We urge any patient to consider using this service when they are unsure of their disease status or their treatment plan.
Expert Access Action Items: Follow the process below
Step 1 – Confirm that you qualify.
Click the “Apply Now” button at the bottom of this page to attest that you meet the criteria. To participate in the Expert Access™ Program, you must reside in the United States and have a CLL or SLL diagnosis.
Step 2 – Pre-consultation survey, Participant Portal account registration, and medical record release form.
After qualifying for the program, you will be provided a link that takes you to the pre-consultation survey. You must first complete the pre-consultation survey online, and you will then receive the link to the Participant Portal where you will request a virtual second opinion and complete the DocuSign form, which is the medical release form. Completion of these three steps are necessary to begin the program.
1. Pre-consultation survey
Your responses to the Pre-Consultation survey will only be reported in combination with all other participants in the program and will not be shared individually.
2. Participant Portal
Upon completion of the pre-consultation survey, you will be provided a link that takes you to a Participant Portal with our partner Alight. You must complete the login process to create a new username and password. When completing your profile, please list CLL Society as the company code. You will be asked to complete the virtual second opinion questionnaire and hit submit. This will include your top five questions to the CLL physician, but these can be edited closer to the consultation.
Once the account is created, you will need to submit the Get a Virtual Second Opinion request online, inside the portal. After this step, you will wait to receive an email confirmation within 24 hours that the medical release form is ready for completion. After this 24-hour period, you must log back into the Patient Portal to complete the medical release form.
3. Medical record release form
After you receive email notification that the medical release form is ready, you must login to the Participant Portal for completion. Upon completion, you will receive a copy of the medical release form for your records. In preparation for your consultation, your medical records will be summarized and provided to the CLL Expert prior to your consultation. Your medical records will be kept confidential and will not be shared outside the scope of this program.
Again, all information must be completed in order to begin the program.
Step 3 – Medical records collection
One of the Alight case managers will reach out to your primary oncologist to collect all of the necessary medical records for the CLL Expert to review. This may take up to 10 days.
Step 4 – Scheduling and 30-minute video consultation with a top specialist
Once Alight obtains your medical records and summarizes your case, they will send you a few potential time slots to choose from. A 30-minute video consultation will then occur between you and a top CLL specialist. The Alight platform is HIPAA-compliant, very easy to use, and available on most internet-connected devices. It is preferred to use a device that has a camera to facilitate the video consultation. Alight can offer tech support if necessary.
Step 5 – Post-consultation survey and consultation summary
Following the consultation, you will be asked to complete a brief survey to help us evaluate the effect of the program. Your survey results will be aggregated with those of other patients and will never be reported individually. You will also receive a summary of your consultation written by the CLL expert, which you can then share with your treating physician and keep for your own records.
Click the “Get Started” button at the bottom of this page to attest that you meet the criteria. To participate in the Expert Access™ Program, you must reside in the United States and have a CLL diagnosis, without current access to a CLL expert. If you are unsure of whether you are already seeing a CLL expert physician, check our list of CLL expert doctors here.
After qualifying for the program, you will be provided a link that takes you to the pre-consultation survey. You must first complete the pre-consultation survey online, and you will then receive the link to a DocuSign form, which is the medical release form. Completion of these two steps is necessary to begin the program.

Program Utilization
The Expert Access™ Program is designed to provide a second opinion by a CLL expert to bring to your local treatment team when you are unsure of your disease status or treatment plan, so it is limited in scope. This program cannot deliver the continuity of care that’s provided by your treating physician. For this reason, the program cannot be utilized on an unlimited basis and is monitored to ensure that continuity of care does not take place but remains as a second opinion consultation for specific needs with different physicians providing this service.
Our Partner
CLL Society has partnered with Alight, an online second opinion service that uses live, synchronous video technology to match patients around the world with top US-based medical specialists. Eighty percent of those provided a 2nd opinion through Alight were seeking oncology consultations. Our Supporters
