Ask the Doctor Question:

During CLL Society’s COVID Virtual Community meeting on 9/24, did I understand Dr. Lamanna to say she is routinely giving her CLL patients prophylactic pre-exposure monoclonal antibody infusions? If so, can I get this from my oncologist?

Answer: Dr. Lamanna has responded that “currently, I am only administering monoclonal antibodies for those CLL patients who 1) tested positive for COVID, or 2) have had known exposure to someone with COVID and need post-exposure prophylaxis. Pre-exposure prophylaxis is currently being evaluated for immunocompromised patients in clinical trials.”
