Does taking ibrutinib inhibit, neutralize, or degrade the ability of antibodies (being) produced by REGEN-COV?

This content was current as of the date it was released. In science and medicine, information is constantly changing and may become out-of-date as new data emerge.

Ask the Doctor Question:

Does taking ibrutinib inhibit, neutralize, or degrade the ability of antibodies (being) produced by REGEN-COV?

Answer: No, it does not. This is because the antibodies found in the REGEN-COV infusion are already made and being directly injected into you. This is a very different process from being given the vaccine which gives the directions to your body on how to produce COVID-19 antibodies (which CLL patients just don’t do very well, especially when on certain drug therapies). We hope that answers your question.

Please be sure and complete the COVID-19 checklists that can be found here if you haven’t already: https://cllsociety.org/2021/07/covid-19-plan-checklists-for-chronic-lymphocytic-leukemia-cll-preparing-for-pre-and-post-covid-19-exposure/.
