Am I reducing the effectiveness of the Jadenu by spacing the tablets out during the day?

Ask the Pharmacist Question:

I recently started taking Jadenu to reduce excess ferritin due to numerous blood transfusions. My ferritin level is 1400.  If I take all three 360 mg tablets at once, I have severe diarrhea for the rest of the morning, so it is unwise to leave home. If I take one tablet when I get up, one about an hour before lunch (noon), and one at 4pm, I have no uncontrollable diarrhea.  Am I reducing the effectiveness of the Jadenu by spacing the tablets out during the day?

Answer: I could find no reason that you could not take this as a divided dose. Likely, the medicine is not working to peak efficacy if you have severe diarrhea so you may actually be getting more benefit with the divided dose approach.
