I am 75, diagnosed with CLL 2018 and on wait and see. I notice only one of the “ask a doctor” questions relate to a Spike in WBC after receiving a COVID vaccine. Mine spiked 27%, about three-times (3x) the historic amount. Do you know whether such spikes are common in CLL patients? If not, can you ask your followers to share their experience?
Answer: At this time, there are no data specifically on this, but we have heard anecdotally of this occurring pretty commonly in CLL patients. However, remember that other vaccines are also well known for temporarily raising the Absolute Lymphocyte Count and causing lymph nodes in proximity to the injection site to swell.
