Blood Cancer Explained, CLL Emotional Impact on Patients and Caregivers

In science and medicine, information is constantly changing and may become out-of-date as new data emerge. All articles and interviews are informational only, should never be considered medical advice, and should never be acted on without review with your health care team.

Along with my longtime friend Victor Gonzalez from the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF), I had the opportunity to discuss my emotional journey and some research concerning healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers from the jarring moment of diagnosis through all the emotional ups and downs of a long CLL journey. Much of the discussion rightly focused on the under-recognized psychosocial impact on caregivers.

Please enjoy this very personal but also universal description of what it is like emotionally to deal with chronic lymphocytic leukemia as a patient and a caregiver.

Thanks to AbbVie for including this Emotional Impact Episode as part of their patient-directed Blood Cancer Explained video series.

The “Blood Cancer, Explained” Episode 2 has won PR Daily’s Media Relations Award for best video.

Stay strong; we are all in this together.
