How do I obtain a lab study to determine if the COVID vaccine is effective?

Ask the Lab Scientist Question:

How do I obtain a lab study to determine if the COVID vaccine is effective?

Answer: You can ask your doctor to do the “Spike protein” antibody test. Although, no one is sure at this point whether the presence of antibodies equates to immunity for us. If he does not want to perform the test for whatever reason, LLS is doing a study that you can enroll in where they will test for the presence of the Spike protein and give you your results. You can find more information about that here:

It’s very important to remember that whether you produce antibodies to the vaccine or not, CLL patients should continue to meticulously follow all of the outlined CDC precautions for preventing COVID-19 while we are still in the midst of the pandemic.
