If IVIG plasma now contains the COVID plasma from patients that have donated plasma? If so, is it possible that I don’t need the booster vaccine?

Ask the Pharmacist Question:

I get my IVIG every 38 days and have had the two vaccines for COVID. My question is to ask if the IVIG plasma now contains the COVID plasma from patients that have donated plasma? If so, is it possible that I don’t need the booster vaccine?

Answer: Thank you for your question and thank you for getting your COVID-19 vaccines!

No there are not enough COVID-19 antibodies in your IVIG to give you protection, so please get the booster. We just wrote an official statement on boosters for CLL patients that can be found here, as well as answers to some of the most common questions we have been receiving in a third booster dose question-and-answer document here.
