CLL patients face a higher risk of infection, but with planning and care, risks can be reduced. By following best practices and informed choices, CLL patients can attend and enjoy in-person meetings.
Regardless of their treatment status, all chronic lymphocytic leukemia/ small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL / SLL) are immunocompromised.
CLL Advocates Network (CLLAN) convened an international group of patients and experts, including CLL Society’s Dr. Koffman, to develop practical recommendations for CLL / SLL patients, allowing patients to feel safer about being in public spaces.
The risk one is willing to take to attend a particular event will always be an individual decision based on treatment and disease status, co-morbidities, personal risk tolerance, details about the venue, the importance of the event, and other personal factors.
