CLL Society Supports Veterans Benefits Administration’s Interim Final Rule Establishing a Presumptive Service Connection for Leukemia Patients

In science and medicine, information is constantly changing and may become out-of-date as new data emerge. All articles and interviews are informational only, should never be considered medical advice, and should never be acted on without review with your health care team.

CLL Society advocated for our CLL / SLL veteran community by submitting a letter to the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) in response to its request for comments on a recent decision. Effective Jan 10, 2025, the VBA established a presumptive service connection for veterans who were exposed to fine particulate matter and subsequently diagnosed with leukemia. Rather than wait for public comments, the VBA made the decision effective as of January. In our letter, CLL Society shared background on CLL / SLL, our mission, our work on behalf of veterans with CLL, and our wholehearted support of VBA’s expansion of presumptive service connection for leukemias.
