Cancer Today Magazine: A Can-Do Spirit

In science and medicine, information is constantly changing and may become out-of-date as new data emerge. All articles and interviews are informational only, should never be considered medical advice, and should never be acted on without review with your health care team.

Bruce Wright and his wife Elaine were featured in an article and on the cover of Cancer Today Magazine.

Bruce is Chair of CLL Society’s Patient Advisory Board, a Senior Support Group Advisor, and our Veterans with CLL Liaison.  Additionally, Bruce is the Veterans Community Representative for SWOG, a National Cancer Institute (NCI) supported organization that conducts clinical trials in adult cancers, one of the largest of the NCI’s clinical trial cooperative groups. NCI is a participant in the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN).

Bruce is a US Navy Veteran who served three tours in the Vietnam War, which exposed him to Agent Orange on each tour. During this time in his life Bruce was part of a two man aircrew that graduated from the Navy’s elite TOPGUN (Naval Fighter Weapons School) Program. He shares his journey of being diagnosed with CLL and how he and his wife advocated for his best possible care with help from the education, resources, and support of CLL Society.

Bruce has helped over 100 Veterans with service-related disabilities obtain the benefits that they have earned and deserve and continues to support the CLL and Veteran community through his advocacy and support.
